Annual PGA Merchandise Show-Orlando, Florida
More than 1,000 companies and more than 40,000 PGA Professionals, 41 PGA Sections, Buyers, and Industry Insiders from 75 countries are welcomed every year to this annual Show. In 2017 & 2018, the emphasis was: stemming the tide of defecting millenial golfers from the game, utlizing golf technology solutions to grow the game, and getting more girls/women introduced to the game of golf. Another challenge deals with lagging retail sales, forcing a massive sell off of Golfsmith stores (over 60 locations). Nike announced it will stop the manufacture of balls/bags/clubs while TaylorMade is reportedly separating from parent company Adidas. Increasing course closures around the United States also denotes a growing decline in overall golfrounds played. The industry remains confident it can "weather the storm" of declining interest as many industry leaders see positive signs in the growth of golf from companies like Topgolf, PXG, Blast Motion, The "New" Ben Hogan, MySwing Golf, and U.S. Kids.
